He is a computer vision senior researcher in the Smart Systems and Smart Manufacturing department at AIMEN Technological Centre in Vigo-Spain. Earlier, he was a postdoctorate in the Computer Science department at IT University of Copenhagen-Denmark (ITU) in Copenhagen-Denmark. In Ecuador, he was an assistant professor in the Applied Science Department at the Universidad Tecnica del Norte (UTN), Ecuador, for seven years. At the same time, he was a part-time lecturer in the IT Department at 17 de Julio Technological Institute. He received his PhD from the Computer Science department at the University of Salamanca in Spain in November 2020, where Prof. Vivian Lopez-Batista advised him. His thesis was focused on building smart IoT devices in harsh environments. He holds a master's degree in Data Management systems from Universidad de las Fuerzas Armadas ESPE, Ecuador (2018), and an Engineering degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from UTN (2013). He was a visiting student at Universidad Nacional de la Plata, Argentina.

In particular, He has extensive experience working with deep learning techniques, transfer learning models, and neural network architectures to fit Edge devices and microcontrollers. On the hardware side, He has expertise in electronics design to develop embedded systems by adding different types of sensors and optimizing their running time. He is also proficient in programming languages such as Python and C++, as well as machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch with hardware accelerators such as GPUs and FPGAs.

His research focuses on resource-aware and resource-constrained machine learning, especially in emerging microcontrollers in decentralized networks.
